1979 Suzuki GS1000S Wes Cooley

0.00

This was Suzuki’s commemorative bike to Wes Cooley, their superbike rider who took the championship in 1979 and 1980. Initially intended to be released only in the European market, U.S.-based dealers saw a very limited supply, estimated around 500 units in 1979. Some say that Suzuki only provided each dealership with a single model.

The GS1000 is not only a remarkably fast bike, but has superb handling and effective brakes. It is remembered for being one of the most reliable motors in the racing era. Initially Wes Cooley was racing the KZ1000, but without much success. When he switched to the GS he began dominating.
