1972 Ossa Pioneer 250

2,500.00

The Spanish motorcycle manufacturer Ossa (Orpheo Sincronic Sociedad Anónima) was active from 1924 through 1982. Being strong supporters of all forms of motorcycle racing in addition to road racing - including motocross, enduro, and observed trials - they quickly grew in the European and especially North American markets. Like many other top brands, they began focusing heavily on two-stroke production after the conclusion of the Second World War.

The Pioneer 250 is Ossa’s premier fully street-legal dual sport vehicle, essentially a pavement-ready version of their brilliant 250 Stiletto scrambler. This bike is so impressive that the Cycle World staffer tasked with reviewing its release ended up purchasing one for himself, stating: “Fast or slow, rough or tight, versatility is what this machine is all about.”

The Pioneer offers a top speed of 73 mph from its 244cc two-stroke single capable of 21 hp managed by a 5-speed gear box. Having a fully fiberglass body, the enduro weighs a mere 257 pounds wet, which explains its unmatched versatility on and off road.

Our model is in survivor condition. While preserving the components in all of their patina, surface wear, and period-correct materials we’ve thoroughly seen to the bike mechanically to ensure that it starts, runs, rides, and stops exactly how it should.

One shouldn’t forget that the 1972 Pioneer 250 comes from racing royalty: in the year of its production, its off-road sister models won their second consecutive European Trials Championship and their third consecutive Scottish Six Days Trial - a grueling contest.

This is an iconic motorcycle that you can ride to and from the trails, and everywhere in between.
