1976 Kawasaki KZ400

2,000.00

The Kawasaki KZ400 was developed as a bare-bones, fuel efficient motorcycle for the American market. In fact, half of the KZ400’s were produced in Kawasaki’s new Lincoln, Nebraska plant — the first Japanese motorcycle manufacturer on U.S. soil. With laws requiring motorcycles to maintain a minimum highway speed limit of 55mph, Kawasaki designed a 35 horsepower machine more than capable of that while offering a reported efficiency of 60 miles per gallon.

Although Honda dominated the 1970’s, they could never catch up to the KZ400 in the 400cc twin-engine market. This model has a disc brake up front and a drum in the rear. The motor is managed by a 5-speed gear box. It has a fully functioning electric starter with a kick-start backup. The fuel tank is extremely clean (see pictures).

We have performed the following maintenance:
• Both carbs thoroughly cleaned.
• All fluids have been changed.
• New front master brake cylinder.
• Tuned to start easily and run smoothly (see video).
