1977 Triumph T140 Silver Jubilee - Limited Edition

The “Silver Jubilee” was built to commemorate the first 25 years of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign. Initially only 1,000 were made and sold in England, but sales were so successful that the factory was compelled to provide 1,000 more for the American market, and up to 400 more sold internationally. The very first 1,000 Jubilees produced bear the “One Of A Thousand” badge — our model has it. The engine case also bears the “J” stamped next to the engine numbers, verifying the originality of the motor.

Our model has the original paint on the fuel tank and the fenders which shows its gentle aging and patina. Even the factory pin-striping on the rims is still mostly visible! The factory upholstered the seats in blue to match the paint detailing with red piping to match the pin-striping. By 1977 Triumph was the sole remaining British motorcycle manufacturer (Norton going out the year prior). This makes the patriotic theme and styling well-warranted.

True to the Bonneville format, the smooth and torquey 744cc twin cylinder engine is rubber mounted and is rated for a top speed of 120 mph. Because it is a T140 is has a 5-speed gear box, and in compliance with the 1974 U.S. transportation law, it has a left-hand shifter! As with all Bonne’s until the 80’s this is a kickstart only bike.

This bike came to us as an original runner. We have since rebuilt the front and rear brake calipers. We’ve also installed a new stainless steel rear brake master cylinder. Both petcocks have been replaced.

Please see the video linked below: this is a running, riding bike with rejuvenated stopping power. Odometer shows 25,730 miles. A truly limited-edition bike with unique, immediately identifiable characteristics that you’ll love riding. If you’re looking for a classic British twin it simply has to be this one.
